I used to do a lot of photography in the early 90's (in my early teens) back in the days when everything was shot on film and needed developing before you could see the fruits of your labour! For one reason or another I got out of the whole photography thing and started doing other things.
Recently though I got the desire to get back into it and after much research went out and bought myself a Canon EOS500d DSLR with 18-55mm lens as well as a Tamron 70-300mm zoom lense. It's going to be a bit of a learning curve! Despite shooting pretty much exclusively in full manual mode with my old film camera, I'm pretty sure it's going to take quite a long time before everything starts falling into place!
